Exploring Small Islands Around Phuket
- Koh Racha Yai and Noi are a 35-minute speedboat ride from Chalong Bay in Phuket. It is surrounded by crystal clear waters and pure white sandy beaches the kind of sand that is just so fine it just melts through your toes.Those with a passion for diving should have the Racha Islands on their list of dive sites for sure. Both islands have wonderful clear water, snorkeling opportunities and perfect white sand. It can get busy with dive boats so if you want some peace, arrive earlier in the morning.
- Ko Racha Noi has an area of 3.06 square kilometres (1.18 sq mi) and Ko Racha Yai has an area of 4.5 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi).
The main activities here are of course, scuba diving and snorkeling, which is possible throughout the entire year. Visibility on the gentle sloping reefs here, can reach as much as 30m, maybe even more. The marine life is quite spectacular too, there is an abundance of fish to see, including, Sea turtles, Stingrays, Leopard Sharks, Black Tip Sharks, Morays Eels, Barrcudas and Trevallies, even Nemo lives here.
Only recently in the past couple of years has Raja Yai Island really become popular with overnight guests, it is still relatively unknown, but there is a little building work going on. So it may be worth going to see this pure paradise island before there are too many buildings on there. You won’t be disappointed, and you will come back so relaxed and chilled out you will wish you never left the place.

Situated 9 km. off the southeast coast of Phuket, on the way to Raya Island. The travelling time is around 15-20 minutes from mainland, which is not far at all. Visitors come to this island all year around, normally families or groups.The island is surrounded by colorful coral reefs, hence the name Coral Island.
The island has two long stretches of white, sandy beach with crystal clear water with plentiful of tropical fishes waiting to be fed, and a few quiet bays on the other side. A short trek over the small hill and rocks leads to a small quiet cove with a beautiful beach, an excellent hideaway during the day.
Coral island is one of the top snorkeling and water sport destination. Snorkeling at Coral island is not just the only fun, but you can also enjoy other activities such as, banana boat , parasailing,scuba diving, and sea walking.
